The purified wife of the Noble Prophet, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), said that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would enter into the state of Ihram, I used to apply fragrance for his Ihram, and likewise, for becoming lawful (halal) before performing the circumambulation (Tawaf) of the House of Allah (Baytullah).

Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: It is as if I am seeing the shine of fragrance in the parting of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), although he was in the state of Ihram.

Muhammad bin Muntashir narrates that I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and mentioned to her the statement of Ibn Umar that "I do not consider it permissible to enter into Ihram while fragrance is emanating from my body." So Sayyida Aisha replied, "I myself applied fragrance to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), then he went to all of his wives, and after that, he entered into Ihram."
