Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fixed Dhu’l-Hulaifah as the miqat for the people of Madinah, Juhfah for the people of Sham, Qarn al-Manazil for the people of Najd, and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen. These are the miqats for the people of those regions and also for those who pass through them intending to enter the Haram for Hajj or ‘Umrah. However, those who reside within the miqat, their place for donning ihram is their own home, until even the people of Makkah should assume ihram from Makkah itself. (For those who consider it necessary to go to Tan‘im for ‘Umrah, this hadith is a proof against them, provided they study it with careful consideration.)
