Hadith 619
619 صحيح حديث عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْطِينِي الْعَطَاءَ فَأَقُولُ: أَعْطِهِ مَنْ هُوَ أَفْقَرُ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي، فَقَالَ: خُذْهُ، إِذَا جَاءَكَ مِنْ هذَا الْمَالِ شَيْءٌ وَأَنْتَ غَيْرُ مُشْرِفٍ وَلاَ سَائِلٍ فَخُذْهُ، وَمَا لاَ، فَلاَ تُتْبِعْهُ نَفْسَكَ
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would give me something, I would say, "Please give it to someone who is more in need than me." But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would say, "Take it. If you receive any wealth without having desired it or asked for it, then accept it. And whatever you do not receive, do not worry about it and do not pursue it."
