Hadith 596
596 صحيح حديث عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمِ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بَشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Save yourselves from Hell, even if it be by giving a piece of date (in charity); (but surely try to protect yourselves from the fire of Hell by giving charity)."
Hadith 597
597 صحيح حديث عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ وَسَيُكَلِّمُهُ اللهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، لَيْسَ بَيْنَ اللهِ وَبَيْنَهُ تَرْجُمَانٌ، ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ فَلاَ يَرَى شَيْئًا قدَّامَهُ، ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَتَسْتَقْبِلُهُ النَّارُ، فَمَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَتَّقِيَ النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : اتَّقُوا النَّارَ، ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ وَأَشَاحَ؛ ثُمَّ قَالَ: اتَّقُوا النَّارَ، ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ وَأَشَاحَ، ثَلاَثًا حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ: اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah will speak to every single one of you on the Day of Resurrection without there being any interpreter between him and Allah. Then he will look to his right and will see nothing before him. Then he will look in front of him and the Fire will be facing him. So whoever among you can save himself from the Fire, let him do so, even if it be by giving half a date in charity.” Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated another report that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Save yourselves from Hell.” Then he turned his face away and said: “Save yourselves from Hell.” Then again he turned his blessed face away and said: “Save yourselves from Hell.” He did this three times. We thought that perhaps he was looking at Hell. Then he said: “Save yourselves from Hell, even if it be by giving half a date in charity. And if one does not find even that, then let him try to save himself by saying a good word (to the people).”
