Hadith 577
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at night on the black stony ground of Madinah when the Uhud mountain appeared. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Abu Dharr, I do not like that if I had gold equal to the mountain of Uhud, and a night or even three nights passed over me while even a single dinar from it remained with me, except that which I keep for the repayment of a debt. I would distribute all that gold among Allah’s creation in this way." Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) demonstrated this by filling his hands and spreading them out. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Abu Dharr." I replied, "At your service and for your happiness, O Messenger of Allah!" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Those who accumulate much (wealth) will be the ones with little (reward), except the one who spends it like this and like this on the servants of Allah, meaning abundantly." Then he said, "Stay here, Abu Dharr. Do not move from here until I return." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left and disappeared from sight. After that, I heard a sound and I feared that perhaps something had happened to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I wanted to go (to see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him), but immediately I remembered the instruction of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not to move from here, so I stayed there. (When he returned,) I said, "I heard a sound and I became afraid that something might have happened to you, then I remembered your instruction, so I stayed here." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That was Jibreel (peace be upon him); he came to me and informed me that whoever from my Ummah dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, even if he committed adultery and theft?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, even if he committed adultery and theft."

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that one night I went out and saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was walking alone and there was no one with him. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr says that from this I understood that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not like anyone to be with him at that time, so I began to walk behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the shadow of the moon. After that, he turned and saw me and asked, "Who is it?" I replied, "Abu Dharr! May Allah sacrifice me for you." He said, "Abu Dharr, come here." He narrated that then I walked with him for a while. After that, he said, "Those who have amassed much wealth (in this world) will be the ones in loss on the Day of Resurrection, except those to whom Allah has given wealth and they spent it to the right, to the left, in front, and behind, and used it in good deeds." (Sayyiduna Abu Dharr) narrated that then I walked with him for a while. He said, "Sit down here." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made me sit on a flat ground surrounded by stones and said, "Remain seated here until I return to you." Then he went towards the rocky ground and disappeared from sight. He stayed there for a long time. Then I heard him coming, saying, "Even if he has stolen, even if he has committed adultery." Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, I could not remain patient and I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, may Allah sacrifice me for you, at the edge of that rocky ground, whom were you talking to? I did not see anyone else talking to you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That was Jibreel (peace be upon him). He met me at the edge of the rocky ground (Harrah) and said, 'Give glad tidings to your Ummah that whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise.' I asked, 'O Jibreel, even if he has stolen and committed adultery?' He said, 'Yes.' I asked again, 'Even if he has stolen and committed adultery?' Jibreel said, 'Yes, even if he has drunk wine.'"
