Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever attends a funeral and then offers the funeral prayer will receive the reward of one qirat, and whoever remains until the burial will receive the reward of two qirats. It was asked: How much are two qirats? He replied: Like two great mountains (i.e., do not consider it like the qirat of this world, which is one-twelfth of a dirham. In another narration, it is mentioned that the qirat of the Hereafter is equal to the mountain of Uhud).

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that whoever remains with the funeral until the burial will receive the reward of one qirat. Then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that Abu Hurairah narrates many ahadith. Then Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) also confirmed Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said that I myself heard this statement from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Upon this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that then we have missed out on many qirats.
