Hadith 526
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when there was a solar eclipse during the time of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), an announcement was made that prayer was about to be held. In this prayer, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed two bowings (ruku) in one rak‘ah, and then two bowings in the second rak‘ah as well. After that, he remained seated (in the sitting posture) until the sun became clear. Sayyiduna Abdullah said that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I have never performed a longer prostration than this.

Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The eclipse of the sun and the moon does not occur because of anyone's death; rather, both are signs of Allah's power. Therefore, when you see them, stand up and perform prayer.

Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that once there was a solar eclipse, so the Prophet stood up in great anxiety, fearing that perhaps the Hour (of Judgment) might be established. He went to the mosque and performed a prayer with very long standing, long bowing, and long prostrations; I had never seen him perform like that before. After the prayer, he said that these are signs which Allah sends; they do not occur because of anyone's death or life, but rather Allah sends them to frighten His servants. Therefore, when you see anything like this, immediately hasten towards the remembrance of Allah and seeking forgiveness.
