Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a cloud from which rain was expected, he would sometimes move forward, sometimes backward, sometimes enter the house, and sometimes come outside, and the color of his blessed face would change. But when it started to rain, this state would no longer remain. Once, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked him about this, so he replied: I do not know, perhaps this cloud is like the one about which the people of ‘Ad said when they saw a cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: “This is a cloud that will bring us rain.” (No), rather, in reality, this is what you were asking to be hastened—a wind in which is a painful punishment.
