Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty initially made two rak‘ahs obligatory in prayer, both during travel and while residing. Then the prayer during travel was kept in its original state, and an addition was made to the prayers while residing.
