Hadith 338
338 صحيح حديث ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْنَا السُّورَةَ، فِيهَا السَّجْدَةُ، فَيَسْجُدُ وَنَسْجُدُ حَتَّى مَا يَجِدُ أَحَدُنَا مَوْضِعَ جَبْهَتِهِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would recite a verse of prostration in our presence and perform prostration, so we would also prostrate with him (due to the crowd) in such a way that there would not even be enough space to place our foreheads where we performed prostration.
Hadith 339
339 صحيح حديث عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّجْمَ بِمَكَّةَ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا وَسَجَدَ مَنْ مَعَهُ غَيْرَ شَيْخٍ أَخَذَ كفًّا مِنْ حَصًى أَوْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ، وَقَال: يَكْفِينِي هذَا؛ فَرَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدَ ذلِكَ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once in Makkah, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah An-Najm and performed a prostration. All those who were with him (Muslims and disbelievers) also prostrated along with him. However, an old man (Umayyah bin Khalaf) picked up some pebbles or soil in his hand and brought it up to his forehead and said, "This is sufficient for me." I saw that later that old man remained a disbeliever and was killed.
Hadith 340
340 صحيح حديث زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ رضي الله عنه، فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ قَرأَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالنَّجْمِ فَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ فِيهَا
Ata bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) asked Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) about this matter. He expressed with certainty that he had recited Surah An-Najm before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform sajdah (prostration) in it.
Hadith 341
341 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ الْعَتَمةَ فَقَرَأَ (إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ) فَسَجَدَ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا هذِهِ قَالَ: سَجَدْتُ بِهَا خَلْفَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلاَ أَزَالُ أَسْجُدُ بِهَا حَتَّى أَلْقَاهُ
Hazrat Abu Rafi' narrates that I offered the 'Isha prayer with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). He recited "Idha al-sama'unshaqqat" and performed a prostration (sajdah). I asked him, "What is this prostration?" He replied, "In this surah, I performed a prostration behind Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him), so I will always perform a prostration in it until I meet him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
