Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has eaten garlic or onion should keep away from us, or (he said) he should stay away from our mosque, or he should remain sitting in his house. A pot was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which there were various kinds of green vegetables (including onion or leek). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sensed the smell in it and inquired about it. He was informed of all the vegetables that had been added to the dish. There was a companion present there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Pass this dish towards him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not like to eat it and said: You people eat it, for I have intimate conversation with those (angels) with whom you do not.
