Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that (the recitation of) the Qur'an will be done in every prayer. In those prayers in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the Qur'an aloud to us, we will also recite aloud to you, and in those prayers in which he recited quietly, we will also recite quietly. And if you recite only Surah Al-Fatihah, that is sufficient, but if you recite more, it is better.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque. Meanwhile, a man came and started to pray. After completing his prayer, he came and greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the greeting and said, "Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." So he went back and prayed again, then came and greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said, "Go back and pray again, for you have not prayed." This happened three times. Finally, the man said, "By Him Who has sent you with the truth, I cannot pray better than this, so please teach me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When you stand for prayer, first say the takbir (Allahu Akbar), then recite from the Qur'an whatever is easy for you. Then bow (ruku‘) and perform ruku‘ properly. Then raise your head and stand up straight. Then when you prostrate (sujud), perform sujud properly. Then raise your head and sit properly. Then prostrate again in the same way. Do this in all your prayers (rak‘ahs)."
