Hadith 180
180 صحيح حديث أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ؛ قَالَتْ: جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؛ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ الله إنَّ اللهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الحَقِّ، فَهَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غسْلٍ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ، فَغَطَّتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ، تَعْنِي، وَجْهَهَا، وَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسولَ اللهِ وَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ، فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُهَا وَلَدُهَا
Mother of the believers, Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Umm Sulaym (a woman) came to the service of the Noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Allah does not shy away from the truth, (so I ask) is ghusl (ritual bath) obligatory upon a woman due to a wet dream?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "(Yes,) when a woman sees water (i.e., notices traces of semen on her clothes or elsewhere), then (ghusl is obligatory)." Upon hearing this, Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) covered her face out of modesty and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Does a woman also have wet dreams?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes! May your hands be dusty (an expression), then why does the child resemble her? (That is, this is proof of her having wet dreams.)"
