Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will gather the people on the Day of Resurrection. At that time, the people will say, "If we could take someone to intercede with our Lord, it might be beneficial. Perhaps we could be delivered from this state of ours." So the people will come to Adam (peace be upon him) and say, "You are the noble prophet whom Allah created with His own hand, and He breathed into you His concealed spirit, and He commanded the angels, so they prostrated to you. Please intercede for us with our Lord." He will say, "I am not fit for this," and then he will remember his mistake and say, "Go to Noah, for he is the first messenger whom Allah sent." The people will come to Noah (peace be upon him), but he will also give the same answer, "I am not fit for this," and he will mention his mistake and say, "Go to Abraham, whom Allah made His close friend." The people will come to him, but he will also say, "I am not fit for this," mention his mistake, and say, "Go to Moses, with whom Allah spoke." The people will go to Moses (peace be upon him), but he will also give the same answer, "I am not fit for this," mention his mistake, and say, "Go to Jesus." The people will go to Jesus (peace be upon him), but he will also say, "I am not fit for this. Go to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for all his past and future sins have been forgiven." So the people will come to me. At that time, I will seek permission from my Lord (for intercession) and will fall into prostration. Allah Almighty will let me remain in prostration as long as He wills. Then it will be said, "Raise your head, ask and you will be given, speak and you will be heard, intercede and your intercession will be accepted." At that time, I will praise my Lord with such praises as Allah will teach me. Then I will intercede, and a limit will be set for me, and I will take people out of Hell and admit them to Paradise. And in the same way, I will fall into prostration a third or fourth time, until only those people will remain in Hell whom the Qur'an has restrained (i.e., those about whom it is explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an that they will remain in Hell forever).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When the Day of Resurrection will come, people will appear like a surging sea. Then they will come to Adam (peace be upon him) and say to him, "Intercede for us with your Lord." He will say, "I am not worthy of this. Go to Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, he is the Friend of Allah." The people will go to Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and he will also say, "I am not worthy of this. Yes, go to Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, he is the one to whom Allah spoke directly." The people will go to Musa (peace be upon him), and he too will say, "I am not worthy of this. However, go to Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, for he is the Spirit of Allah and His Word." So the people will go to Isa (peace be upon him), and he will also say, "I am not worthy of this. Yes, go to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." The people will come to me, and I will say, "I am for intercession." Then I will seek permission from my Lord, and I will be granted permission, and Allah the Exalted will inspire me with words of praise by which I will praise Allah, words which I do not remember now. So when I will recite these praises and fall in prostration before Allah, it will be said to me, "O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted." (Upon hearing this) I will say, "O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah." It will be said, "Go and bring out all those from whom you find in their hearts faith equal to a grain of barley." So I will go and do so. Then I will return and once again praise Allah the Lord of Glory with the same praises, and I will fall in prostration before Allah. It will be said to me, "O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted." Then I will say, "O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah." It will be said, "Go and bring out from the Fire those in whose hearts you find faith equal to a particle or a mustard seed." So I will go and do so. Then I will return and again praise Allah with the same praises, and I will fall in prostration before Allah. I will be told, "Raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted." I will say, "O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah." Allah the Exalted will say, "Go and bring out from the Fire those in whose hearts you find even less than a mustard seed of faith." I will go and bring them out. Then I will return a fourth time and praise Allah with the same praises, and I will fall in prostration before Allah the Exalted. Allah the Exalted will say, "O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted." I will say, "O Lord, grant me permission regarding those who have said 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah)." Allah the Exalted will say, "By My Honor, My Majesty, My Greatness, and My Supremacy, I will bring out from it (the Fire) those who have said the statement 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah)."

Hadith Takhrij«صحیح، أخرجه البخاري في: 97 كتاب التوحيد: 36 باب كلام الرب عز وجل يوم القيامة مع الأنبياء وغيرهم»
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the foreleg portion was presented to him. He took a bite from it with his teeth, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked the meat of the foreleg very much. Then he said: On the Day of Resurrection, I will be the leader of all people. Do you know what day this will be? On that day, all creation from the beginning of the world to the Day of Resurrection will be gathered in a vast plain so that the voice of a caller can reach all ears and a single sight can encompass them all. The sun will come very close, and the distress and anxiety of the people will be beyond all limits, unbearable. The people will say to one another: Do you not see what has become of us? Is there not any accepted servant who can intercede for you in the presence of Allah, the Exalted? Some people will say to others: We should go to Adam. So all the people will come to Adam (peace be upon him) and say: You are the father of mankind. Allah created you with His own hand and breathed into you a special soul from Himself. He commanded the angels, and they prostrated to you. So, intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see what state we have reached? Adam (peace be upon him) will say: My Lord is extremely angry today; He has never been so angry before, nor will He ever be so angry after today. And the Lord of Might forbade me from the tree, but I disobeyed Him. So, I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else. Yes, go to Noah. So all the people will come to Noah (peace be upon him) and say: O Noah, you are the first messenger sent to the people of the earth, and Allah gave you the title of a grateful servant. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see what state we have reached? Noah (peace be upon him) will also say: My Lord is so angry today that He has never been so angry before, nor will He ever be so angry after today. And I was given the certainty of an accepted supplication, which I used against my people. Today, I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else besides me. Go to Abraham. All the people will come to Abraham (peace be upon him) and say: O Abraham, you are Allah’s prophet and His close friend, chosen on the face of the earth. Intercede for us. Do you not see what state we have reached? Abraham (peace be upon him) will also say: Today my Lord is very angry; He has never been so angry before, nor will He ever be so angry after today. And I told three lies. So, I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else besides me. Yes, go to Moses. All the people will come to Moses (peace be upon him) and say: O Moses, you are Allah’s messenger. Allah gave you distinction through His message and His word. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see what state we have reached? Moses (peace be upon him) will say: Today Allah is very angry, so angry that He has never been so angry before, nor will He ever be so angry after today. And I killed a man, though I had no command from Allah regarding it. Myself, myself, myself. Today, I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else besides me. Yes, go to Jesus. All the people will come to Jesus (peace be upon him) and say: O Jesus, you are Allah’s messenger and His word, which He cast upon Mary, and a spirit from Him. You spoke to people in the cradle as a child. Intercede for us. Do you not see what state we have reached? Jesus (peace be upon him) will also say: My Lord is so angry today that He has never been so angry before, nor will He ever be so angry after today. And he will not mention any slip (sin), but will only say: Myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else besides me. Yes, go to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). All the people will come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), you are Allah’s messenger and the last of the prophets, and Allah has forgiven all your past and future sins. Intercede for us in the court of your Lord. Do you not see what state we have reached? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then I will go forward and under the Throne...
