Hadith 49
49 صحيح حديث أَبي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ في أَضْحًى أَوْ فِطْرٍ إِلى المُصَلَّى فَمَرَّ عَلى النِّساءِ فَقَالَ: يا مَعْشَرَ النِّساءِ تَصَدَّقْنَ فَإِنّي أُريتُكُنَّ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَقُلْنَ: وَبِمَ يا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: تُكْثِرْنَ اللَّعْنَ وَتَكْفُرْنَ الْعَشيرَ، ما رَأَيْتُ مِنْ ناقِصاتٍ عَقْلٍ وَدينٍ أَذْهَبَ لِلُبِّ الرَّجُلِ الْحازِمِ مِنْ إِحْداكُنَّ قُلْنِ: وَما نُقْصانُ دِينِنا وَعَقْلِنا يا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: أَلَيْسَ شَهادَةُ الْمَرْأَةِ مِثْلَ نِصْفِ شَهادَةِ الرَّجُلِ قُلْنِ: بَلَى، قَالَ: فَذَلِكَ مِنْ نُقْصانِ عَقْلِها، أَلَيْسَ إِذا حَاضَتْ لَمْ تُصَلِّ وَلَمْ تَصُمْ قُلْنَ: بَلى، قَالَ: فَذَلِكَ مِنْ نُقْصانِ دِينِها
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to the Eid prayer place on Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr. There he passed by the women and said: O assembly of women, give charity, for I have seen that most of the inhabitants of Hell are you. They said, O Messenger of Allah, why is that? He said: You curse a lot and are ungrateful to your husbands. Despite being deficient in intellect and religion, I have not seen anyone more capable than you of making a wise and experienced man lose his senses. The women asked: O Messenger of Allah, what is the deficiency in our religion and our intellect? He said: Is it not the case that the testimony of a woman is half that of a man? They said: Yes, it is so. He said: That is the deficiency of her intellect. Then he asked: Is it not the case that when a woman is menstruating, she neither prays nor fasts? The women said: Yes, it is so. He said: That is the deficiency in her religion.
