Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made an agreement with the Jews of Khyber regarding the land there, that half of the produce, fruits, crops, and whatever was yielded would be theirs. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give his wives one hundred wasqs from this, of which eighty wasqs were dates and twenty wasqs were barley. Then, during his caliphate, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), when he distributed the land of Khyber, gave the noble wives the choice that if they wished, they could be given water and a piece of land there, or the previous arrangement could remain. So, some preferred to take the land, and some preferred to take the wasqs (from the produce). Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) preferred to take the land.
