939 صحيح حديث عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْكُثُ عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ جَحْشٍ وَيَشْرَبُ عِنْدَهَا عَسَلاً، فَتَوَاصَيْتُ أَنَا وَحَفْصَةُ أَنَّ أَيَّتَنَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْتَقُلْ: إِنِّي أَجِدُ مِنْكَ رِيحَ مَغَافِيرَ، أَكَلْتَ مَغَافِيرَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى إِحْدَاهُمَا، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ ذلِكَ؛ فَقَالَ: لاَ بَلْ شَرِبْتُ عَسَلاً عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ جَحْشٍ، وَلَنْ أَعُودَ لَهُ فَنَزَلَتْ (يأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللهُ لَكَ) إِلَى (إِنْ تَتُوبَا إِلَى اللهِ) لِعَائِشَةَ وَحَفْصَةَ وَإِذْ أَسَرَّ النَّبِيُّ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ لِقَوْلِهِ: بَلْ شَرِبْتُ عَسَلاً
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stay with Umm al-Mu'mineen Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) and would drink honey at her place. So I and Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) agreed together that whichever of us the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited, she should say, "A smell of Maghafir (a particular kind of foul-smelling gum) comes from your mouth. Have you eaten Maghafir?" After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to one of us, and she said this to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "No, rather I drank honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), and now I will not drink it again." Upon this, the verse was revealed: "O Prophet, why do you forbid what Allah has made lawful for you?" (__QUR_66_1__) This was a mistake on the part of Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her): "And when the Prophet confided a matter to one of his wives..." (__QUR_66_3__) In the hadith, what is meant by this is his statement, "I have not eaten Maghafir, rather I drank honey."
