Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) faced the two corners of the mountain which are between it and Jabal Taweel in the direction of the Ka'bah. He would keep the mosque, which is now built there, to his left at the edge of the mound, and the place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed was below that, on the black mound. Leaving about ten hand-spans from the mound, he would pray facing the two mountain passes which are between you and the Ka'bah.
