Abu Jamrah Nasr bin Imran Dab'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that I put on the Ihram for Hajj and Umrah together, so some people forbade me from doing so. Therefore, I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about this matter. He told me to perform Tamattu'. Then I saw in a dream that a person was saying to me: "Your Hajj has been accepted and your Umrah has been accepted." I related this dream to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, so he said: "This is the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." Then he said: "Stay with me, I will allocate something for you from my own wealth." Shu'bah (the narrator) said: I asked (Abu Jamrah), "Why did Ibn Abbas do this?" (i.e., why did he say he would give you wealth?) He replied: "Because of the dream that I had seen."

Brief Explanation
A dream is not a legal proof (shar‘i hujjah), but when the dreams of righteous people are in support of matters of the Shari‘ah, there is a strong presumption of their correctness. Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas radi Allahu anhuma described Hajj al-Tamattu‘ as the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Even a small act of worship performed in accordance with the Sunnah carries more reward than a great act of worship performed in opposition to the Sunnah. (Secret)
