767 صحيح حديث عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ: أُنْزِلَتْ آيَةُ الْمُتْعَةِ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ، فَفَعَلْنَاهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَمْ يُنْزَلْ قُرْآنٌ يُحَرِّمُهُ، وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ بِرَأْيِهِ مَا شَاءَ
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that (during Hajj) the command of Tamattu‘ was revealed in the Qur'an, and we performed Hajj with Tamattu‘ along with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then after that, neither the Qur'an forbade it nor did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbid it until he passed away. (Therefore, Tamattu‘ is still permissible.) It is only that a certain person has said whatever he wished based on his own opinion.
Brief Explanation
By "a certain person" is meant Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq radi Allahu anhu, whose opinion was against tamattu‘. Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn radi Allahu anhu considered this view of Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu to be his personal opinion and did not accept it in opposition to the Qur’an and Hadith. (Raaz)
