Hadith 71

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a battle. He said about a man who claimed to be a Muslim, "This person is among the people of Hell." When the battle began, that man fought very bravely (on the side of the Muslims), and he was also wounded. The companions said, "O Messenger of Allah, the one about whom you said he would go to Hell, today he fought with great courage and (after being wounded) has also died." The Prophet still gave the same reply, "He has gone to Hell." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, it was possible that some people might have developed some doubt in their hearts, but while people were still pondering over this, someone informed that he had not died yet, but his wound was severe. Then, when night came, he could not bear the pain of his wounds and committed suicide. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this, he said, "Allahu Akbar! I bear witness that I am Allah's servant and His Messenger." Then he ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he announced among the people that no one except a Muslim will enter Paradise, and Allah, at times, helps His religion even through a wicked person.
