Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave all the spoils of the Battle of Hunayn to the Quraysh, some young men from the Ansar said, “By Allah, this is a strange thing! The blood of the Quraysh is still dripping from our swords, and all the spoils we have gained are being given only to them.” When this news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he called the Ansar. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “Is the news that has reached me true?” The Ansar were not people who lied, so they replied, “You have received accurate information.” Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Are you not pleased and satisfied that when all the people return to their homes with the spoils, you will return to your homes with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with you? Whichever valley or mountain pass the Ansar take, I will also take that valley or mountain pass.”
