Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Charity is due upon every joint of a person, every day upon which the sun rises. If he acts justly between people, that is also a charity. And helping a man with his mount, lifting him onto it, or hoisting his belongings onto it, that is also a charity. And a good word is also a charity. And every step he takes towards prayer is also a charity. And removing something harmful from the road is also a charity.

Brief Explanation
The meaning is that it is obligatory upon every Muslim to give charity (sadaqah) for every joint in his body, seeking the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala, as gratitude for the fact that He created the joints of his bones, through which he is able to grasp, take, and give. The mention of the joints has been specified because joints have a particular role and excellent function in movement, activity, and control. (Murattib rahimahullah)
