Hadith 581

581 صحيح حديث جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: بَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ أَعْتَقَ غُلاَمًا عنْ دُبُرٍ، لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرَهُ، فَبَاعَهُ بِثَمَانِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ بِثَمَنِهِ إِلَيْهِ
By "mudabbir" is meant a slave whose freedom is made conditional upon the master's death. Since he had no property other than the slave, he sold him, and then it was seen that he had spent all his wealth and was falling into destruction because of it, so his statement was declared invalid and it was annulled.
