Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the collection of Zakat. Then it was said to him that Ibn Jameel, Khalid bin Walid, and Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib have refused to give Zakat. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ibn Jameel does not show gratitude; until yesterday he was poor, then Allah made him wealthy through the blessing of the supplication of His Messenger. As for Khalid, you are wronging him; he has dedicated his armors in the way of Allah. And as for Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, he is the uncle of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and his Zakat is upon me, and the same amount is to be given to him from my side.
