Hadith 554

Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah bin Rabi’i Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that people passed by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) carrying a funeral. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He has found relief, or relief has been found from him.” The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is the meaning of ‘the relieved’ and ‘the one relieved from’?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A believing servant finds relief by being saved by Allah’s mercy from the hardships and pains of the world; he is the relieved one. And the one from whom relief is found is the wicked servant, from whom Allah’s servants, cities, trees, and animals all find relief.”
