Hadith 526

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when there was a solar eclipse during the time of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), an announcement was made that prayer was about to be held. In this prayer, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed two bowings (ruku) in one rak‘ah, and then two bowings in the second rak‘ah as well. After that, he remained seated (in the sitting posture) until the sun became clear. Sayyiduna Abdullah said that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I have never performed a longer prostration than this.

Brief Explanation
In prostration (sajdah), the servant becomes extremely close to Allah Ta'ala. Therefore, whatever amount of remembrance of Allah Ta'ala is made in it with humility and submissiveness, and whatever is asked from Him, is little (i.e., it is not enough compared to the opportunity). Attaining this state in prostration is a sign of good fortune. (Raaz)
