Hadith 516

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not raise his hands for any supplication except for the supplication of Istisqa (prayer for rain), and in Istisqa he would raise his hands so much that the whiteness of his armpits would become visible.

Brief Explanation
In the mursal narrations of Abu Dawud, this hadith is as follows: "Except for istisqa (prayer for rain), you would not raise your hands fully in any supplication." From this, it is understood that the denial of raising hands in this narration of Bukhari means that you did not raise your hands in an exaggerated manner. From this narration, it cannot be established in any way that you did not raise your hands at all in supplications. (Raaz)
