Hadith 431

Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Witr in every part of the night, and in the end, his Witr would be close to the time of morning.

Brief Explanation
Its further explanation is provided by the hadith found in Abu Dawud, in which Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha states that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam performed witr in the early part of the night, in the middle, and also at the end. However, near his passing, he would perform it at the time of suhoor (pre-dawn). Here, it is also possible that his practice of performing it in the early and middle parts of the night was to demonstrate permissibility, and his practice at the end of the night was to indicate its superiority.
