411 صحيح حديث ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِيًا جَمِيعًا، وَسَبْعًا جَمِيعًا
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I offered eight rak‘ahs together (Dhuhr and ‘Asr) and seven rak‘ahs together (Maghrib and ‘Isha) with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Brief Explanation
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has deduced from these ahadith that it is permissible to omit the Sunnah prayers. And the Sunnah in this matter is also that if (the obligatory prayers) are combined, then the Sunnah prayers should not be performed. (Maulana Waheed uz-Zaman)
