Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij رضي الله عنه said that when we would perform the Maghrib prayer with the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and return (and practiced archery, there would still be so much light left that) a person could see the spot where his arrow fell.

Hadith Takhrij«صحیح، أخرجه البخاري في: 9 كتاب مواقيت الصلاة: 18 باب وقت المغرب»
Brief Explanation
Its explanation is provided by the hadith narrated through the chain of Ali bin Bilal in Musnad Ahmad with a hasan (good) chain of transmission. He narrates from the people of the Ansar that: "We would perform the Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), then return and engage in archery until we reached our homes, and the places where the arrows fell would not be hidden from us." This hadith is evidence for performing the Maghrib prayer early and not prolonging it. (Murattib rahimahullah)
