Hadith 330

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When the evening meal of any one of you is ready and the call to prayer has been made, then eat the meal first and do not rush for the prayer until you have finished eating.

Brief Explanation
The purpose of these ahadith is simply that if food is ready at the time of hunger, then one should first finish eating so that the prayer may be performed with complete tranquility and the heart is not preoccupied with the food. And this applies to the one who is already feeling hungry. (Secret) As for the one who is not hungry, he should eat after performing the prayer. One should not seek concessions without a valid reason.
