Saeed bin Yazid Azdi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offer prayer wearing his shoes?" He replied, "Yes."

Brief Explanation
It is narrated in Sunan Abu Dawood and Al-Mustadrak of Hakim that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Act against the Jews, for they pray in their sandals." Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq radi Allahu anhu considered it disliked (makruh) to remove shoes during prayer. Some people say that "na'l" is a specific type of footwear belonging to the Arabs, and that prayer is not permissible in ordinary shoes, even if they are clean and pure. According to the evidence, such a statement is not correct. It is permissible and valid to pray in shoes without any dislike (karahah), provided that they are clean and pure. (Raaz)
