Hadith 30

Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh ‘Adawi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that my ears heard and my eyes saw when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was speaking, he said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest according to the customary manner. It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! For how long is the customary manner? He said: One day and one night, and hospitality is for three days, and whatever is beyond that is charity for him. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.
