Hadith 24

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day a man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "Which Islam is best?" He replied: "That you feed (others) and greet with peace both those whom you know and those whom you do not know—in short, greet everyone with peace."

Brief Explanation
Hadith Narrator: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As radi Allahu anhu was a great worshipper, ascetic, and a skilled scholar. His kunyah was Abu Muhammad or Abu Abdur Rahman. He accepted Islam before his father. According to one opinion, his name was al-As, but upon embracing Islam, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam changed it to Abdullah. In the beginning, when writing down hadith was not generally permitted, he used to write hadith with special permission from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He passed away in 68 Hijri.
