Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said while delivering a sermon on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): When the command regarding the prohibition of wine was revealed, it was being made from five things: grapes, dates, wheat, barley, and honey. And "khamr" (wine) is that which intoxicates the mind. And there are three issues about which I wished that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had clarified the ruling for us before he departed from us: the issue of the grandfather, the issue of kalalah, and some issues regarding usury.
