Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Among the Children of Israel there were three men: one was a leper, the second was blind, and the third was bald. Allah Almighty wished to test them. So Allah sent an angel to them. The angel first came to the leper and asked him, "What thing do you like the most?" He replied, "A good color and good skin, because people avoid me." It is narrated that the angel passed his hand over him, and his disease was removed, his color became beautiful, and his skin became good. The angel asked, "What kind of wealth do you like most?" He said, "Camels!" or he said, "Cows." So he was given a pregnant she-camel, and it was said, "Allah will bless you in this." Then the angel came to the bald man and asked him, "What thing do you like?" He said, "Good hair, and that my present defect be removed, because people avoid me because of it." It is narrated that the angel passed his hand over his head, and his defect was gone, and in its place came good hair. The angel asked, "What kind of wealth do you like?" He said, "Cows!" It is narrated that the angel gave him a pregnant cow and said, "Allah will bless you in this." Then the angel came to the blind man and said, "What thing do you like?" He said, "That Allah gives me eyesight so that I may see people." It is narrated that the angel passed his hand, and Allah Almighty restored his sight to him. Then he asked, "What kind of wealth do you like?" He said, "Goats!" The angel gave him a pregnant goat. Then all three animals gave birth, until the leper's valley was filled with camels, the bald man's valley was filled with cows, and the blind man's valley was filled with goats. Then the angel came again in his original form to the leper and said, "I am a very poor and destitute man, all the provisions and means for my journey have ended, and there is no hope of fulfilling my need except from Allah Almighty. But I ask you, by the One who gave you good color, good skin, and wealth, for a camel so that I may complete my journey." He said to the angel, "There are many rights upon me." The angel said, "Perhaps I recognize you. Were you not afflicted with leprosy, because of which people used to avoid you? You were a poor and destitute man, then Allah Almighty granted you these things?" He said, "All this wealth has come down to me from my forefathers." The angel said, "If you are lying, may Allah return you to your former state." Then the angel came to the bald man in his original form and made the same request to him, and he gave the same answer as the leper. The angel said, "If you are lying, may Allah return you to your former state." After that, the angel came to the blind man in his original form and said, "I am a poor man, all the provisions for my journey have ended, and there is no hope of fulfilling my need except from Allah Almighty. I ask you, by the One who restored your sight to you, for a goat so that I may fulfill the needs of my journey." The blind man replied, "Indeed, I was blind, and Allah Almighty granted me sight by His grace, and indeed I was poor and needy, and Allah Almighty made me wealthy. You may take as many goats as you wish. By Allah! Since you have invoked Allah, take whatever you wish; I will never stop you." The angel said, "Keep your wealth with you; this was only a test, and Allah Almighty is pleased and happy with you, and displeased with your two companions."
