Ahnaf bin Qais narrates that I set out to help that person (Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him). On the way, I met Abu Bakrah. He asked, "Where are you going?" I said, "I am going to help that person (Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him)." Abu Bakrah said, "Return to your home. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'When two Muslims confront each other with their swords, both the killer and the one killed are in Hell.'" I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! The killer, of course (deserves Hell), but why the one killed?" He replied, "He too was eager to kill his companion." (If he had the opportunity, he would have killed him, so due to the firm intention in his heart, he is also destined for Hell.)
