Hadith 1824

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person is placed in his grave and the people who participated in his funeral depart from him, he still hears the sound of their sandals when two angels (Munkar and Nakir) come to him. They make him sit up and ask him, "What did you use to believe about this man, that is, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" The believer will say, "I bear witness that he is the servant of Allah and His Messenger." Upon this answer, it will be said to him, "Look at your place in Hell; Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of that." At that moment, both his places in Hell and Paradise will be shown to him.
