Hazrat Abdullah bin Zam’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that in one of his sermons, he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the she-camel of Salih (peace be upon him) and also mentioned the person who hamstrung her. Then he said: “When the most wicked among them rose up” (i.e., to kill the she-camel, a corrupt and wretched man named Qudar, who was dominant and powerful among his people like Abu Zam’ah). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also mentioned the rights of women, saying that some of you beat your wives like slaves, yet at the end of the same day you sleep with them. Then he forbade them from laughing at the passing of wind and said: How can you laugh at something which each of you does?
