Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There was a man (from the Children of Israel) who had never done any good deed. He made a will that when he died, he should be burnt, and half of his ashes should be scattered on land and half in the sea, for, by Allah, if Allah got hold of me, He would punish me with a torment that He has not inflicted on anyone else in the world. Then Allah commanded the sea, and it gathered all the ashes that were in it, and He commanded the land, and it gathered all the ashes that were in it. Then Allah, the Exalted, asked him: Why did you do this? He replied: O Lord! Out of fear of You I did this, and You are the All-Knowing. So Allah, the Exalted, forgave him.
