Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that we were in a battle (Tabuk). One of the Muhajirun kicked a man from the Ansar. The Ansari said, "O Ansar! Come to help," and the Muhajir said, "O Muhajirun! Come to help." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also heard this and said, "What is the matter? What is this call of ignorance?" The people informed him, "O Messenger of Allah! A Muhajir has kicked an Ansari." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Leave this call of ignorance, for these are very filthy things." Abdullah bin Ubayy also heard this and said, "So it has come to this? By Allah! When we return to Madinah, the honorable will surely expel the mean ones from it." This news reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to kill this hypocrite." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Leave him, so that people do not say that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) kills his companions."
