Hadith 1653

1653 صحيح حَديثُ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ عَمْرٍو رضي الله عنهما، قَالَ: جاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي الجِهَادِ. فَقَالَ: «أَحَيُّ وَالِدَاكَ؟» قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: «فَفِيهِمَا فَجَاهِدْ»
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a companion came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and sought permission to participate in jihad. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him: "Are your parents alive?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then strive in their service." (i.e., try to keep them happy)
Brief Explanation
From this, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has derived the meaning of the chapter that the consent of the parents is necessary for going out for jihad. Because the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave precedence to serving them over jihad. (Secret)
