Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I was near the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was descending from Ji'ranah, which is a place between Makkah and Madinah. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with you. During this time, a Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Why do you not fulfill what you promised me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Glad tidings to you." Upon this, the Bedouin replied, "You have given me many glad tidings." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his blessed face towards Abu Musa and Bilal; he seemed very angry. He said, "He has rejected the glad tidings, so you both accept it." Both of them said, "We have accepted." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a bowl of water, washed his hands and face in it, rinsed his mouth in it, and (to Abu Musa Ash'ari and Bilal, may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Drink from this water and pour it over your faces and chests, and receive glad tidings." Both of them took the bowl and acted accordingly. From behind the curtain, Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) also said, "Leave some for your mother." So they left a portion for her.
