Hadith 1618

Urwah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I began to speak ill of Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) in the presence of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), so she said: Do not speak ill of him, he used to defend the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Brief Explanation
Hadith Narrator: ... The kunyah of Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit radi Allahu anhu was Abu al-Walid or Abu al-Hussam. He was an Ansari. Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha states that when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam arrived in Madinah, the Quraysh satirized him, so Hassan defended him through poetry. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would say: "Hassan, satirize the disbelievers, for it wounds them more than arrows, and Jibril descends to assist you." He lived to the age of one hundred and twenty years—sixty years in the period of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) and sixty years in Islam—and passed away in 40 AH. Some have stated his year of death as 50 AH. *On one occasion, Hazrat Hassan radi Allahu anhu was led astray, that is, he sided with those who accused Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha. Later, he repented, but this incident remained in the memories of some hearts. However, Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha herself praised him and remembered him in good words. (Raaz)
