1529 صحيح حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: قَالَ: رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: اخْتَتَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ، وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً، بِالْقَدُّومِ
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) circumcised himself with a hatchet at the age of eighty years.
Brief Explanation
At this very age, Prophet Ibrahim received the command for circumcision (khitan). There was no razor available, so, in obedience to the divine command, he himself performed circumcision with an adze. Some deniers of hadith have objected to this narration, which is evidence of their foolishness. When a human being can commit suicide, can cut his own throat with his own hand, then what is so astonishing about Prophet Ibrahim performing circumcision on himself with an adze? And to object to circumcision at the age of eighty (80) years is also foolishness. When the divine command was given, it was fulfilled. (Raaz)
