Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when the time for prayer came, the people searched for water, but when they could not find any water, a vessel containing water for ablution was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand into it and instructed the people to perform ablution from that (vessel). Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I saw water gushing forth from beneath the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) like a spring, until even the last person of the (caravan) had performed ablution.

Brief Explanation
This was a miracle of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) that all the people performed ablution (wudu) from a single bowl of water. The search for water for ablution is established from this. If it is not found, then one should perform tayammum. (Raaz)
