Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrated that we were present in the company of Hudhaifa bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked for water, so a Magian brought him water in a (silver cup). When he handed the cup to him, he threw the cup at him and said, "If I had not forbidden him repeatedly (not to give me anything in gold or silver vessels), I would not have treated him this way. But I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Do not wear silk or brocade, and do not drink from gold or silver vessels, nor eat from their plates, for these things are for them (the disbelievers) in this world and for us in the Hereafter."
