Hadith 1254

Hazrat ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I asked, “O Messenger of Allah! We release trained dogs (for hunting)?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Eat whatever they keep for you.” I asked, “Even if the dogs kill the prey?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “(Yes,) even if they kill it.” I asked, “We hunt with featherless arrows or sticks?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “If their sharp edge wounds and tears the prey, then eat it, but if the prey is killed by the broad side, then do not eat it (for it is carrion).”
