1177 صحيح حديث أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ أَتَيْتَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَرَكِبَ حِمَارًا، فَانْطَلَقَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ يَمْشُونَ مَعَهُ، وَهِيَ أَرْضٌ سَبِخَةٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ: إِلَيْكَ عَنِّي، وَاللهِ لَقَدْ آذَانِي نَتْنُ حِمَارِكَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ مِنْهُمْ: وَاللهِ لَحِمَارُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَطْيَبُ رِيحًا مِنْكَ فَغَضِبَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ فَشَتَمَا، فَغَضِبَ لِكلِّ وِاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا أَصْحَابُهُ، فَكَانَ بَيْنَهمَا ضَرْبٌ بِالْجِرِيدِ وَالأَيْدِي وَالنِّعَالِ فَبَلَغَنَا أَنَّهَا أُنْزِلَتْ (وَإِنْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلوا فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا)
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that it was suggested to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that it would be better if he visited Abdullah bin Ubayy, the hypocrite. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to him riding on a donkey. The companions were walking with him on foot. The place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was passing was a barren land. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached him, he (Abdullah) said, "Please stay away, the smell of your donkey has disturbed my mind." Upon this, an Ansari companion said, "By Allah! The donkey of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is more fragrant than you." A man from Abdullah the hypocrite’s tribe became angry at this statement of the companion, and both of them started abusing each other. Then supporters from both sides became agitated, and it escalated to the point of fighting with hands, sticks, and even shoes. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "We learned that this verse was revealed on this occasion: 'If two groups of Muslims fight each other, make peace between them.'"
